Jacques

Can you introduce yourself
Hey Chaps, I’m Jacques, a 31-year-old Parisian living in London. I am half-French, half-Armenian.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit; five years ago I moved to London to create a branch of a Financial firm.

Where does your passion for food come from
From childhood, cooking has always been a passion! I was the only boy in a large Armenian family. In Armenian culture, men are not welcomed in the kitchen, so it became my mission to enter the "women’s only" kitchen. Curious and sneaky by nature, I hid under my grandma’s skirts to reach the kitchen table and hide safely under it.
From my shelter under the table, I couldn’t see much, but the cooking aromas were enough. Since then, I’ve always been cooking for friends, family... But more importantly, what I love is sharing food with great people during endless meals.

What is your favourite cuisine

As I’m a mix of different cultures, my food is a reflection of myself. I really like Fusion food with French, Italian/Mediterranean and Armenian inspirations. I love playing around by bringing a bit of fantasy to traditional dishes.

What is your favourite meal
My absolute favourite dish is game meat in sauce with homemade pasta or any other side. Venison, deer, wild boar ... be my guest. And of course, cheese + a full-bodied red wine remain my guilty pleasure.

How did you meet Tom
Tom and I met at the coffee machine of a co-working space in the city. We quickly got to know each other and found out that we both loved cooking and good wines. After a few afterwork drinks, we started dreaming about the perfect food business that would match our desires and lifestyles. The idea of a supper club attracted us, and Jacques & Tom Party Host Chaps was born.

Why have you decided to create the supper club
As we both have jobs, we couldn’t just open a restaurant. But we really enjoy being together in the kitchen and meeting new people, and we wanted to create a food concept that could match our timetables. The supper club allows us to cook whenever we can.

Tom

Can you introduce yourself

I’m Tom, I’m 30 and I live in North London. Before moving to the city I grew up in the countryside.

Where does your passion for food come from

My family have always cooked, run restaurants and Pubs and so I basically grew up in a kitchen atmosphere. I've always loved it, particularly cooking for others and hosting.

What is your favourite cuisine

I love to eat Italian, if I had to pick one type of food to live on forever it'd be the Italian Kitchen. When I am cooking though I love drawing on traditional seasonal British food.

What is your favourite meal

I love wine, particularly red, so a nice Pizza or bowl of pasta with a glass of Amarone and i'm there.

How did you meet Jacques

I met Jacques at a shared working space and we got chatting, while we both have careers in sectors a long way away from food, it’s something we both love.

Why have you decided to create the supper club

I’ve always loved to host people and enjoy food, wine, music and chat with friends. As well as that though I want a place where I can have fun with food.
